Google News was different when I browsed it yesterday morning. On a look, there was just a box of three words that made it different – Customize This Page. I clicked on it and it expanded where I can change the position of news sections, add or remove, and determine the number of news to be displayed. The feature I liked the most is, off course, the ability to add a custom section – if you subscribe to Google Alert in your email, then this can save your inbox space. A great feature added by Google – and yet another confirmation that Google is thinking big – indeed, very very big.

UTL Wireless Phone Is Resuming
UTL Wave Phone, the wireless phone of the United Telecom Limited pvt ltd, is resuming its services to the subscribers who chose to re-register for free. The advertisement of the company asking for re-registration says its in accordance with the ‘directives of Ministry of Information and Communication and Nepal Telecommunication Authority’. I don’t know what happened but when I tried visiting NewsLookMag.com, a site that collects all the headlines relating to Nepal, it didn’t appear. It looks like either the site has ceased operation or is being blocked by my ISP.

Suffocating IT Show!
The CAN InfoTech 2005, Nepal’s only Information Technology show, organized by Computer Association of Nepal (CAN) ended yesterday with a record number of visitor, 230000. But my visit to the show, as in earlier years, left me cursing CAN for the crowd. When I was out of the show after suffocating 25 minutes, I had a wet handkerchief (due to sweat) and a triumphant feeling that I was killed in a stampede.

Yahoo!, Hotmail Goes 250MB
With GMail offering 1 GB (1000 MB) email space for users, popular free email service providers have felt the heat of losing customers and are ready to compete. Hotmail annouced the increment of its 2MB limit to 250MB and Yahoo!, which increased its 4MB mailbox to 100MB after GMail annoucement are also increasing it to 250MB. Did you remember, a year ago or so, there were news saying that Hotmail was going to charge fee!
